Wing Installtion

Installing the Wings

Preparation was the key to the success of this installation. My friend has a wing cradle he used for a previous build project. This cradle utilizes for trailer jacks to raise and lower the wing as it enters the spar carry through. Members from the local EAA, chapter 309 helped out tremendously. I sat in the back of the airplane wild wings were being inserted. I did not need to freeze the bolts as they went in relatively easily using a flat tip on an air gun with light air pressure. This helped drive the bolt home while one of the guys used a borescope camera at the front of the bolt holes to call out the alignment of the whole openings as well as observing the bolt being pushed through. We may have set a record as this installation for both wings only took about an hour and a half.
