Windshield - Pt 4

With the help of some friends, I started to make the front windshield retainer. We marked out a the rough size of the strip onto a sheet of mylar then cut pieces of the fiberglass cloth to equal 10 layers.

After mixing the epoxy resin, we spread it onto both sides of the cloth which was sandwiched between the mylar and proceeded to squeeze it back and forth until we achieved full saturation.

We applied a layer of resin to the contact surface, then placed the impregnated cloth onto the aircraft and squeezed out all air bubbles and made sure the cloth was laying flat.

We made the cloth extra large in all directions and will trim to size after the resin has cured. The next steps will be to sand the retainer smooth, trim to size and drill the fastener holes.
