Side panels under doors - Pt 4
I ordered some Devcon 14255 metal-to-metal epoxy to bond the doubler to the side panels.
I applied masking tape to the outside of the contact area then lightly scuffed, cleaned and alodined the surfaces. I chose not to apply primer as I wanted to make sure there was a strong metal-to-metal bond.
After mixing the epoxy we spread it out evenly on the doubler, then put it in place and applied pressure with some pavers as clamps would have not been able to spread the pressure out evenly across the doubler.
After smoothing out the squeeze out epoxy to create a nice fillet seal, we removed the masking tape and wiped off any excess epoxy. Now to let it cure.
Unfortunately, the epoxy kit I purchased was only sufficient to bond one doubler so now I'm waitig for more adhesive to bond the second doubler.
