Custom magnetometer mount
If I use the Dynon SV-MAG-236 magnetometer instead of the Garmin GMU11, its larger footprint and required orientation makes the standard GMU11 mounting location problematic. One thing the GMU11 mounting bracket does however is it orients the magnetometer horizontal while the the aircraft is in a normal flying attitude. Some builders have noted interference or near-interference between the rudder cables and the magnetometer bracket or body itself.
I have decided to make a custom mount, placed immediately behind rib 4. It has been designed like the original mount to hold the magnetometer level in nominal flying attitude. The pitch has been made identical to the original mount. The SV-MAG-232 is required to be mounted nominally level
