Sandblast and reprime toebrake brackets
Three of the toebrake brackets were e-coated (electrodeposited epoxy) and black, one was epoxy primed and painted grey. The e-coating is a great protection but the problem is the coating was largely wrecked by the time I had removed the extensive burring and other edge swarf. I reprimed with rattle can primed but I could not get it to stick well, even after roughing the e-coating. So I sandblasted these part back to bare metal and reprimed with EkoPoxy. I plan to topcoat with EkoCrylic in the same battleship grey that I plan to paint the interior.
The upright joining channel and the engine mounts are also e-coated. Deburring the former did far less damage to the e-coating, and while I did use a rattlecan primer after fine sanding the e-coating I have no plan to topcoat. Topcoat compatibility and attachment strength is not an issue. I have and will use anti-corrosive paste where needed. The primer sticks ok enough for this purpose, and so I do not contemplate sandblasting these parts.
Aesthetic considerations came into play here
