Rivet rear top skin

Last July the rivet holes along longeron 301 were upsized and recentred to 4.8mm to absorb some serious mismatches. Subsequent analysis verified my intuition that upsized rivets, and the elimination of any elongation would reduce the chance of fretting, as observed in some club aircraft.

Now is the time to rivet. 4.8x10mm rivets were used, with Duralac green, and Sika 291 for some moisture sealing along the overlapping panel edges. The custom strip washer made just now was also used. A laser level was used to verify the fuselage remained straight throughout this process. The HS was attached.
