Review of Boost pump CB rating

The Sling electrical KAI indicates a 3A circuit breaker is appropriate for the Facet PosiFlow boost pump (shown here as a 40106 but actually a 60106)

I had previously provisioned a 5A CB largely based on the relatively heavy wiring (18AWG) to the pump. However the Facet 60106 documentation also calls for a 3-5A breaker

Note that the fuel pump has in inbuilt 3.5A fuse. It is doubtful that a 3A CB will protect this fuse, but certainly there is no point to having a higher rated breaker

The previous post indicates a need to purchase a 5A CB, and a 3A CB is surplus.

By changing the boost pump CB to 3A this requirement is eliminated. I just have to shift one additional CB on the panel

The summary is updated as follows

Top row right 3

  • orig: 5, 1, 1
  • revised: COM, IC, XPNDR 3,1,3
  • a 1A breaker replaced with a 3A
  • a 5A breaker replaced with a 3A

Bottom row right 3

  • orig: 2, 3, 1
  • revised: BK EFIS, FLARM, HDST 1, 3, 1
  • a 2A breaker replaced with a 1A

Lets have the main and essential bus breakers on the left hand side, top and bottom rows

Top row left 7

  • orig: 5, 5, 10, 10, 5, 5, 5
  • revised: BOOST, START, TAXI LT, LDG LT, AP, FLAPS, EFIS 5,5,10,10, 5, 5, 5

The leftmost 5 positions will be on a 12.5mm busbar, the EFIS CB will be separately wired

Bottom row left 7

  • orig: 10, 3, 5, 5, 7.5, 10, 3
  • revised: BK BUS, BK CHG, STRB, NAV LT, TRIM, REG, CAB LT 10, 5, 5, 5, 2, 1, 1
  • a 3A breaker replaced with a 5A
  • a 7.5A breaker (moved to the far right of the panel) with a 2A
  • a 10A breaker replaced with a 1A
  • a 3 A breaker replaced with a 1A

All six positions will be on a 10mm busbar

Updated Summary:

top row right:

  • 1A surplus, 3A needed
  • 5A surplus, 3A needed

bottom row right:

  • 2A surplus, 1A needed

bottom row left:

  • 3A surplus, 5A needed
  • 2A needed
  • 10A surplus, 1A needed
  • 3A surplus, 1A needed

The matching colours cancel each other out

A total of 6 CBs need to be relocated, two new 1A breakers are needed and a 10A breaker is surplus
