Section 22 Wing Rear Spar

Completed section 22 for right wing.

Clean and debug rear spar.

Cleco and rivet first two ribs to spar.

Determine which side of the aileron hinge bracket to machine C-sink. Without any additional drawings or blueprints, it took awhile to verify which part was to be countersunk. Once this was complete, the piece was machine countersunk.

Install hinge bearing.

Cleco and rivet the aileron hinge bracket assembly using P-squeezer.

Cleco and rivet the support doubler angles to the hinge bracket assembly using P-squeezer.

Cleco and rivet hinge bracket assembly and doubler to spar per plans. Insufficient clearance was available for the P-squeezer so the rivet were set with a gun and bucking bar. I also found that the AN470AD4-6 rivets were a bit short; using a rivet cutter, -7 rivets were cut to -6.5 which yielded more consistent and better shop heads.

Cleco and rivet the next four ribs to the spar.

Machine C-sink the outboard aileron hinge bracket.

Cleco and rivet the outboard aileron hinge bracket assembly including the support doubler angle using the P-squeezer.

Cleco and rivet the outboard hinge assembly and end rib to the spar using a combination of P-squeezer and rivet gun.
