Installed firewall insulation; deburred and cleaned parts
Deburred and scuffed smaller parts from finishing kit.
Degreased rear fuselage top skins and other smaller parts, pending good weather for primering.
Installed Thermo-Tec Cool-It aviation insulation on the engine side of the firewall. Doubt has been raised about the efficacy and burn resistance of the Sling-supplied insulating foam, so I decided to use a different product. Used the template I had previously started and finished it by tracing the locations for various cut-outs and rivnuts and then transferred it onto the Cool-It and cut accordingly. It has self-adhesive backig, so stuck in place on the firewall nicely (cleaned the firewall first with a bit of acteone). Added some aluminium edge tape to secure the seam where the top and bottom piece of Cool-It meet (unfortunately, the largest piece of Cool-It available is about 10cm to short to cover the firewall top to bottom).
