Rinse and repeat
Spent the day finishing up the rib blanks with the exception of the full size tip ribs. While preparing the jigs for the 0.025 center ribs I had to locate a new jig hole in the set. Originally I had planned to use the flap torque tube location as a jig hole but realized it is in the area the becomes the flange of the aft lighting hole. Once that was complete it was back to the races. One my first batch of center ribs I wasn't pay close enough attention to the stack and wound up with 3 that were missed on the forward spar edge. Fortionitally I only missed be a very little bit so I should be able to trim these later when setting the length for the cap strip depth. Overall progress was slow due to a dull bandsaw blade which needed constant attention since is was loading up with chips. But in the end all the blanks were cut!
I'm trying to decide on order of operations going forward. Should I route the blanks to length now to account for capstrip thinkness or wait and do so after flanging the lightning holes or visa versa. If I trim to length now, I can batch the process and run multiple ribs at a time, but since it requires relieving the jib by 1/4" in two 1/8" increments the form blocks would wind up sort while flanging. Since I plan to use a shop press to flange I'm concerned this will cause the longer ribs to form around the trimmed edge. If I wait to trim then I'll have to process the ribs one at a time to length.
Regardless of how I proceed there's a lot of deburring and edge prep in my future!
