Practice Toolbox Kit

Continued work on the toolbox today. Made slow but steady progress. The latch gave me a hard time. I got plenty of practice drilling out rivets so that was a good thing. It's another skill I need to master and not every rivet on the plane is gonna be correct. I just couldn't make the squeezer work with the 3" yoke. A bigger yoke would've solved the problem but I tried to use what I had. I ended up using the rivet gun. Wrapped the bucking bar in duct tape (other then the face that met the shop head) to avoid marring the surrounding metal. Not super pleased with the results but so far those are the only 2 rivets I've had issues with. I may drill them out and try again once I've completed everything else. I'm happy with how the wire handle came out. They give a full size template but not a lot of guidance on how to proceed. The unknown factor was the bend radius and factoring that in to the measurements. Fortunately there's enough extra wire that I was able to make a couple of test bends using my vice and propane torch. The bend radius ended up being 1/4" so I factored that in when measuring. The handle came out nearly exactly as depicted. All that's left is riveting on the 2 carrying handle brackets.
