Starting Fuselage Assembly
After a 2 week vacation break from the shop it was time to get back to it. I had fun while gone but was feeling guilty for not getting anything on the plane done. I started by dimpling the flanges of most of the fuselage stiffeners then got the F-1407 bulkhead riveted to the F-1429 bellcrank ribs. Then it was time to get the lower fuselage skin out and start clecoing the stiffeners and F-1407 and -08 bulkheads to it. The plans direct to do this with the skin upside down on the sawhorses and everything hanging below it. I elected to do it in an upright position. It seemed easier that way and let me inspect for ill fitting parts better before riveting. I found a missed dimple in the F-1408 bulkhead and a flange with a sizable gap that needed tweaking. This would have been hard to do inverted. The blue painters tape is to secure the bulkhead in an upright position as it's currently very flimsy. I'll need to invert the assembly to rivet it.
