Fuselage Skin Riveting Complete
A long but super productive day in the shop. Started early riveting the skin flat areas prepping for my buddy coming over to help. I'd been wondering how much difference it would make have 2 experienced builders riveting together. The answer is...A LOT! Sure enough my buddy Dan "Joker" Arkema came by and things picked up. Dan is a current USAF F-35 pilot and fellow RV-14 builder. His plane is complete and getting painted. With me running the gun and Dan bucking/evaluating shop heads we got into an quick and easy rhythm and in 5 hours completed the whole fuselage. His prior experience building made a huge difference. I never could have completed the job solo and while my lovely bride is willing and able to help she lacks his experience. I bought Dan a well earned burger and beer when we were done and he's graciously offered his help anytime. Considering he lives 33 miles away that's no small thing. I know I'll need his help again when I get to the top skins. In the meantime I'm hoping to return the favor when he begins final assembly of his plane in the next few weeks.
