Baggage Compartment Floors
Spent a couple hours thoroughly cleaning all the dirt and debris that had collected in the lower fuselage over the months. Used a combo of compressed air and vacuuming to dislodge and remove as much as I could prior to riveting the baggage floor skins on. Once clean I carefully went over the entire fuselage interior looking for spot corrosion. I had a few spots that definitely was corrosion and a few more that were suspect under a bright light. Fortunately no areas were under a joint or flange. They all appeared to be caused by sweat drops in conjunction with the substandard primer wash applied to some QB kits of which mine was one. It was pretty easy to scuff the areas with a Scotchbrite pad to remove the corrosion, clean the area with alcohol then apply primer from a rattle can. Once all those areas were dealt with I ran both rudder cables through the grommets up to the forward fuselage to make sure they were good. Finally I clecoed in both baggage compartment skins. Since many pulled rivets are used on these skins I bought a new rivet puller to use in the open areas. My other one has been heavily modified to work in confined areas with the handles are cut short so its fatiguing to use.
