Drilling Elevator Horns

Back at it today after an unexpected break. Glad you're feeling better Dad! Spend more time measuring and tweaking the rod ends to make sure all rubbing was eliminated. My new rod end tool from ATS worked great for that. I used my boresope to inspect and photograph all 4 rod end threads to make sure they're all protruding at least one thread out the back side of their nutplates. Everything looked good. From there it was on to securing each elevator into the trail position by taping the elevator counterbalance arm flush with the horizontal stabilizer. Then carefully drilling a #30 hole through the bearing using a drill bushing into each steel elevator horn. My 90 degree drill paid for itself on that task. Removing the elevators, the holes were enlarged with a step drill to 1/4". Reattaching the elevators to the stab appropriate hardware was used to secure the elevators to the the central bearing for fitment. The gap was measured on each side of the bearing and appropriate width fat and thin washers were used to fill the 2 gaps and prevent binding when torqued. To simplify assembly I'm using standard hardware store nuts for fitment and will swap out for AN hardware when complete.
