Day 2

Assembly of the horizontal stabilizer

We spent the first three hours of the day buying odds and ends that we needed. Carpet for the tables. 120-degree countersink bit. Sharpie markers. Tabletop drill press.

  1. We affixed the carpet to the workbenches using a pneumatic stapler.
  2. We laid out the parts and reviewed the assembly drawings.
  3. Countersunk 16 holes.
  4. Assembled the pneumatic rivet puller and fired up the compressor.
  5. Clecoed the entire assembly (Didn't have black Clecos. Placed an order with Aircraft Spruce.)
  6. Riveted the assembly together.

Very straightforward process. No surprises.
