Day 16

Today we began assembling the right wing frame. Started by clecoing the wing rib assemblies we had already but together the other day to the main spar. We were trying to set everything before starting to rivet to make sure it was all coming together correctly when we quickly ran out of cleco’s to hold them all. So we started riveting from left to right. (There are 13 wing rib assemblies to be placed.) When nearing the end where there is a rod that needs to be inserted in the last six, we discovered that it would have been better to start right from left, starting with these six. We had to drill out the previous three to make it work.

After getting them all riveted in place, we were able to place the rear spar assembly. This has brought some confusion as to the proper direction of rivets. Will be working this weekend to understand some of their proper placement.

All in all though, the wing assembly is really coming together and is look great.
