Day 28
Main Fuel Tanks
After our first experience with assembling fuel tanks, feeling much more confident in building the main wing tanks. A short while back we had organized the main wing fuel tank frame ribs. This was before we realized that the long range tanks had to be put on the wings, and have the wing top skins installed first. So today we got those ribs back out, along with the long fuel channels, and tank skin. Made sure they were all properly abraded with red scotch bright pads.
Our goal is to have everything prepped and ready, so that once we’ve pressure tested the long range tanks, installed them on the wings, and riveted the wing top skins, we’ll be able to dry assemble and clear drill the main tanks. At that point we’ll be able to proceed with assembling and sealing the main wing tanks.
