Left Wing Paint

It’s been a busy and fruitful few days. In these past few days we have gotten the left wing painted, installed taxi and landing lights, finished the fuselage in preparation for paint, and sprayed rubberized undercoating on all the composite parts.

Painting the wing was the same process as the first wing. It went along very well.

Putting the lights in the right wing proved slightly difficult. They don’t exactly go together very easily. Got them all In though. When we went to tried putting the light cover in we ended up breaking it. We are working on making our own replacement by heating up and molding a new perplex cover before we go through the trouble of trying to get a replacement one that we know would take a long time getting. We have it mostly done, we’ve just to countersink the mounting holes and get the bracket ring riveted on.

We finished installing the rest of the m4 rivet nuts on the fuselage and went around making sure everything is finished and ready for paint.

We have also prepared all the composite parts by scuffing the inside, hanging them, spraying rubberized undercoating and cleaning them up. They turned out very well. We wanted to spray them so that they would be more weather resistant and also helps strengthen the parts.

Tomorrow we will bring the fuselage into the paint booth and get it wiped down and taped off so that Wednesday we can get the fuselage painted.
