Day 239

Fuel Lines, Brake Lines & Static Ports

A day of many successes! Today we finished, or nearly finished many systems.

Firstly we completed the long rang tank transfer system. We we able to get the fuel filters and shutoff valves installed in the lines. The worked out very well. We also did some wiring for the fuel sender units. We decided we are going to hook the wires into the existing wire plugs in the sides of the fuselage rather than running them separately through.

Secondly, while we were at the hardware store getting some wire connectors, we looked at their selection of brass fittings. Believe it or not, the happen to have the exact fittings we needed to finish our brake lines. Couldn’t believe it. Thought for sure we were going to have to go to a specialist store. So once we returned we were able to finish up the brake connections on the other landing gear.

And lastly, today we were able to get the static port line’s completed. The bulkhead barbed fittings showed up today and we were able to get them installed and the two lines ran up through the center of the main spar and along the center console and finally up to the main dash connection. We then made sure everything was held firm and in place with zip ties and standoffs. We additionally added some clamps to the outside static ports to help reduce the possibility of them being accidentally pulled off. We then got the “Y” connectors installed and the lines hooked up to the GSU. All that is left for this system is to connect the last to lines to the G5 unit in the dashboard once it is mounted.

We are very excited to have gotten so far in the three systems today.
