Electric fuel pump and filter

My original plan was to place the electric pump/filter combination under the floor boards to avoid the possibility of heat soak from the engine. However, after considering the maintenance aspect of the filter (must be cleaned/inspected each annual) which would leak fuel onto the bottom of the cabin, I decided to move the pump/filter combination to the firewall and build provisions for cooling air to prevent the heat soak issues.

I made a base plate from 0.080" aluminum. This plate had to be this thick to prevent the countersunk screws from having a knife-edge condition in the countersink. These screws will be installed as studs to hold the pump/filter. I then fabricated a 2" section of 3/8" aluminum line to couple the filter to the pump. With these two items connected, I located the clamps and drilled the holes for the studs to hold the pump/filter combination.

The next step was to determine how big to make the cover which had to be large enough to accommodate some foam insulation and provide a good path for airflow.
