Elevator partial re-riveting
It was decided to continue to use ribs 1, 2 and the reinforcing angle, despite the ribs having been re-creased slightly. This decision is due to the fact that the original creases in ribs 1 were of large radius, the re-creased fold is in a shifted position, and the original crease only needed to be opened about 60 degrees, and only once. Work-hardening was deemed not to be an issue. This has been checked with TAF, who are in agreement.
Note the control horns and control horn brackets are missing here, but were in place when the rivets were re-set. One of the control horn brackets is being replaced due to damage.
Clecoing the skin in place, there is a slight curling up of the right-hand elevator trailing edge due to an approx 1mm mismatch between the holes on the upper and lower skin surface. This is caused by a slight error in the fold position. The degree of curl is minor, but forcing the skin slightly results in some oil-canning of the skin surfaces. Discussions are underway to determine the best approach to dealing with this.
