Review of 4.8mm rivet usage on flap

The wing kit is supplied only with 15mm long 4.8mm diameter rivets. The grip range of these rivets goes down to 4.5mm, so they are suitable for all ribs other than the Rib 102 assembly which has a total thickness of just over 3mm.

Most of the rib assemblies have a thickness of just under 6.5mm which is within the maximum grip range of 10mm long rivets (not supplied), so these could be used resulting in less tail formation. This has been confirmed by TAF.

The Rib 002 assembly has a total thickness of about 8.5mm, making the 4.8mm x 10mm rivets unsuitable in this case, but here alone the 15mm rivets can be used which have a maximum grip range of 11mm

A box of 500 10mm long 4.8mm diameter Gesipa 1433831 rivets are on order, this is the MOQ. It is expected that many more of these rivets will be most suitable elsewhere in the kit, instead of the 15mm. About 84 rivets will be used in the flap and ailerons.
