Re-trim of rev 0 wing skin 1 cutout
Several months ago it was noticed the rev 0 wing skin 2 landing gear cutouts were undersized. These were enlarged, extending the cutout so as to line up with the edge of rib 1. I noticed that from other blogs that rev 3 skins extended the cutout a further 2mm or so. However I left the cutout such that a line-up occurred.
More recently I checked out a production aircraft, and noticed there might be some logic to extending the cutout a further 2mm. I also noticed - on receiving a replacment rev 3 skin 1 for other reasons, that my cutout extension had rather smaller corner radii than perhaps appropriate. So I decided to extend the cutout depth so to match that of the rev 3 skin. In so doing I was able to finesse the corner radii to much larger value, rather closer to that of the rev 3 skin and not too noticable.
Observing the gap between the landing gear and rib 1, I am thinking of making a flexible baffle of sorts - held in place between this rib 1 and skin 1 - so as to close up this gap. This might help with dirt penetration.
