Upsizing and recentering bottom main spar rivets between rib 10 and wingtip
After investigation, it was concluded that there was a slight walkoff between the leading edge skin holes and the main spar holes, on the underside flange (not the topside flange). This walkoff increased to about 0.7mm at the wingtip. The skin 5 holes matched the main spar perfectly. Elongation of the leading edge holes was contemplated, and in fact done for the LH wing. However the same problem arose for the RH wing, and since upsizing was being done elsewhere it was decided to recentre/upsize the holes between rib 10 and the wingtip to 4.8mm. At the same time it was decided to revisit the LH wing and upsize the corresponding rivets to 4.8mm also. Part of the motivation for this is to equalise the surfaces of the wings as much as possible, in the sense that the very slightly higher profile of the 4.8mm rivets may contribute to a very slightly higher drag. This slight change of dray may - to some very slight degree - change the exact angle off attack where this part of the wing stalls.
