Correction of wingtips part 3 - Restoration and thickening of wingtip fibreglass edges
Some builders use a metal strip against which the rivet tails are set - this is to avoid the possible crumbling of the fibreglass in the vicinity of the rivet tails. In my case I had to rebuild with additional fibreglass layers some of the edges, as they had been cut imprecisely. So I decided to thicken all the edges with 3 additional layers of fibreglass, achieving both the goal of rebuilding the improperly cut edges but also removing the need for metal strips, as the edges are now quite thick (5 or possibly 6 layers).
Those edges, improperly cut, once built up on the inside surface were then evened out on the exterior surface with flocked epoxy.
