Bolt-on steps - Part 2 - upper attachment nutplate
Both the 3/16" AN3 bolt holes and the 4.1mm upsized custom nutplate block mounting holes were all shifted down slightly from the original. The reason for this is to move the AN3 hole as far away as possible from the chambered edge of the custom nutplate block. As is seen the 3/16" are only just clear of the chamfer. The chamfer is of course needed for the block not to conflict with the curved inner edge of the upper step channel, an identical situation as for the lower step channel nutplate block. The 4.1mm holes fall within the outline of the adjacent 3/16" holes so that if there is a need to shift the nutplate block (such as would be the case if the step were shifted back to the classic position) this 4.1mm hole can be upsized to a snug fitting AN3 bolt hole, without having to remanufacture the nutplate block.
