Complete remanufacured RF-ANG-003
I was originally supplied with RF-ANG-004-L/R-A-2 angles whose hole patten was incompatible with the RF-LGN-301/2-L/R-A-4 longerons, along with the RF-ANG-003-X-A-0. Sling supplied the updated and compatible RF-ANG-004-L/R-A-3, and indicated the use of the RF-ANG-003-X-A-0. What was noticable was that despite the X notation, the two RF-ANG-003 supplied had a distinct handedness, which I attributed to a manufacture error. What I did notice that if the appropriate RF-ANG-003-X-A-0 was attached to each RF-ANG-004 a channel of almost uniform width (48.3-49.0mm) was formed by the two upward pointing flanges (for attaching the inner and outer arch skins). If I reversed the RF-ANG-003s the channel was highly non uniform. The line of holes in the RF-ANG-004-L/R-A-2 had a line of holes quite non-parallel to its own flange, and this was compensated for by corresponding placements of holes in the RF-ANG-003-X-A-0.
I noted the RF-ANG-004-L/R-A-3 had the line of holes quite differently placed, such that if I attached the RF-ANG-003s the channel formed would be quite non-uniform
Accordingly, I requested a replacement set of RF-ANG-003-X-A-0s (no update exists) and noted the pair supplied had the same distinct non-uniformity and handedness. I queried Sling about this, but could not get an explanation.
So I resolved to remanufacture the RF-ANG-003s, and align them based on the idea that the flange should transition to the top skin at the aft end and the rib 1 at the front. Thanks to Pascal for some helpful photos here. I arranged the flanges to be parallel about and 48.5mm between the outer surfaces. I queried Sling about these dimensions, they indicated 45.4mm at the front and 46.1mm at the rear. This did not really make sense - time will tell.
One of the 3.2mm holes in the RF-ANG-004-L/R-A-3s did not match at all the hole in the top side rail CF-ANG-010, so I decided to ignore it and instead use a countersunk rivet and attach only to the RF-ANG-003.
One other 3.2mm rivet coupling to RF-ANG-003 also required the use of a countersunk rivet. I did not widen the RF-ANG-003 (as did Pascal)
