Decided to switch gears and work on finishing the root and tip wing ribs. These are the last four that I need. The plans allow for the tip ribs to have some cut outs for weight savings, so I decided to have at it.

First I marked out the shape of the rib onto the template. Next, using a ruler, I placed a line 1.5 inches from the outside diameter. This is 1/4 larger than what it calls for but I expect some extra material to be trimmed.

Second, I drilled the corners out. Using a cheap jig saw, I rough cut out each opening.

Lastly, I used a home made sanding block to finish the holes. I only had time to make one of the two, but total weight savings should be 8oz all said and done.

1.25 hours worked.
