Paint stripping, VOR antenna preparation
One horizontal stabilizer rear spar channel, elevator counterweight bracket and one elevator reinforcing angle stripped and prepared for priming again. Used Duram paint stripper first, it worked ok. Used Alcolin to finish off, it has a better consistency but is perhaps slightly less effective than the Duram. Cleaned up with Scotchbrite and then some Plascon GR1 degreaser. Took a lot longer than expected, the AW255 primer is tough to remove.
Cut slot into vertical stabiliser skin with a Dremel and drilled out hole on the opposite side to 9.5mm to accommodate VOR antenna. Ground and adjusted slot with a Unibit to create a rounded area to accommodate a grommet. Test fitted and repeated until fitting was accurate. Deburred.
Crimped BNC connector onto RG400 antenna cable and applied heat shrink. Will heat shrink the descriptive label on later once the cable is passed through the snap bushings. Need to drill a hole / cut away an area of the VOR antenna base to permit clearance of one rivet.
Sanded the Pratley Steel epoxy on the rudder skin, looks good.
