Fuel tanks on right wing
Fitted replacement 035 bracket to right long range fuel tank after primering it. Determined that the factory had installed the previous one incorrectly. Fitted the long range tank to the right wing and secured it with the 995 rivets and AN3 bolts per the KAI. Torqued bolts to 2.5nm and applied torque seal. Riveted the lower side of the long-range tank to the main spar per the KAI. Took a lot of persuasion to get the tank to fit correctly.
Bent the right long range tank bundy tube. Needed to trim the AN fitting sleeve by about 6mm to enable it to fit on the line and around the bends so that the flaring tool could be applied. The bends are a bit different to the left tank because the factory has oriented the outlet fitting on the tank so that it is closer to the main spar - this creates even less space to work with. Fitted the rubber draft seal to the bundy tube. Fitted the bundy tube to the fuel tank and 90 degree AN fitting, applied Loctite 577 liberally and torqued the fittings to 9nm.
Fitted the main fuel tank to the right wing (this side fitted easily). Riveted the underside in place per the KAI as well as the top section where it overlaps the long range tank. Fitted the two AN3 bolts at the root, applied Loctite 243 and torque seal.
Applied some touch up primer to rib 13 where it had been slightly scratched during riveting despite trying to protect it from the rivet gun.
Wings are now ready for inspection and then closing up and completion. Have asked AP to let me know when he's available.
