Temperature probe installation preparation
After reading about other Sling owners' experiences with inaccurate temperature probe readings given their installation in the fuselage fresh air NACA duct, I decided to use a different location. I selected a position just outboard of the right wing aileron bellcrank inspection hatch. This area is accessible, away from propwash, tyres, direct sunlight, fuel drains and the tie down. The probe will project from the underside.
I ran four-core shielded cable inside protective sleeving, then fabricated a circular doubler made from the surplus rudder rib 1 and installed it with 4x 3.2mm countersunk rivets after dimpling the skin and the bracket and deburring. Primered it in place and have left a 2.5mm pilot hole to drill to final size once I have received the temperature probe, as well as a small area un-primered since the Garmin manual indicates the probe requires an unpainted seating area.
