Center console work

I'm waiting for parts, so decided to get a bit of housekeeping and minor assembly completed. This was easier with the canopy removed, so with a bit of assistance it was taken off and placed back on the workbench. After trying to pull through various antenna RG400 cables and the rear USB power cable from the rear fuselage through the center console, I realised it would be better to first tension the rudder cable sleeves, so the cables were pulled out again. I adjusted the cable sleeves to be equally spaced between the main spar and rib 2, then applied Loctite 243 and tightened the nuts to achieve a reasonable tension.

I placed some edge protector around the appropriate holes in the floor ribs, then passed the various cables through again, up to the front of the airframe. I have decided to place the cable sleeves above the 1" air vent tubes (tubes are moulded to accommodate this) and the brake hoses will follow them. Other wiring passes below and then into the middle of the console to avoid the exposed rudder cables. The plan is for avionics wiring to pass down the left of the center console and the antenna cables down the right, although some cross-over is required under the rear seat. Provisionally cable tied all in place with reusable cable ties, so it's neat and tidy for now.

I match drilled the front top skin and then dimpled the related holes in the side skin - this is the new version of the top skin, so it fits inside the side skin.

I riveted the front top rib in position after confirming the parachute cables can still pass through and there is sufficient work space available between it and the firewall should it be required.

Cut some lengths of 2" and 1" SCEET tube for the front console and rear footwell air vents and temporarily secured them in place.

A good vacuum and wipe down to remove dust from the canopy fitment work and then some masking of the interior in preparation for canopy fitment completed the day.
