Front top skin drilling and center console work
Drilled and countersunk the front top skin holes - a strap duplicator for the 1.8" holes worked perfectly for almost all of them (a few required some creativity due to space constraints or obstructions). Gotcha - the spacers on the outside of the firewall which fit between the side skins and firewall edge are about 6mm too long at the top and prevent the new style top skin from seating properly inside the side skin. That means I now need to de-rivet some of the side skin to gain access to trim it. Probably no issue with the older style side skin. Very frustrating!
Manufactured 3x 100mm long cross supports for the lower front center console. These will keep the SCEET hoses and other wiring / hoses in place below the rudder cables, and will be mounted using some M4 stainless machine screws. Installed M4 rivnuts with Loctite 277 in the holes already present in the lower console components, I need to buy some more to complete the job.
Installed some stainless steel hose clamps on the SCEET hoses. I bought 14-32mm clamps, then trimmed the ends off the tails to handle the slightly excessive length applicable to the 1" SCEET hoses and deburred.
Installed the flap motor bolts and torqued, although I've left the cotter pins loose for now. I did replace the aft M5 bolt with the next size up (AN5-14) since the factory-supplied unit was too short for proper cotter pin installation without overstressing and compressing the flap torque tube control arm.
Riveted 4x cable tie cradles in position in the rear center console area to secure the wiring and hoses on each side of the console and prevent interference with the short elevator pushrod.
