Top box, parachute cables, flaps, overhead panel, more testing
May 6, 2022

Prior to closing the Top Box Sean Russel, extraordinary mechanic, the factory test pilot, design influencer, inspects the work.

Flap motor (it works!) air and parachute cables

Bottom right silver bracket is what the frame attaches to. The aileron pulley is in front of that and to the left the motor to actuate the flaps

Parachute cable attached to the rear top box spar -with torque seal

We put a second external alternator belt on in case we need to do any field repair - brilliant!

Jono and Dylan - majestic

Couldn’t let them have all he fun

Testing side loads

This man’s name is Klaus the Patient! He and Glen are composite experts and manufacture whatever we need. In this case he is helping me sort out a template that morphed into a design feature for the overhead panel

Another shot of the extra belt on the engine

Overhead panel- actually getting it aligned just right and the holes drilled turned into quite a challenge

Wiring to get the holes to screw it in in just the right spot! Intern Nicholas has been very helpful and precise!

Gordon holding up the flap as I secure the pushrod

Flap end of the push rod

Ensuring the parachute cable doesn’t rub on the topbox. We will be putting foam on it also

Have to make sure the cables are wound in the appropriate order to ensure they dont get tangled when deployed
