Stabiliser Nut-plates

Drilled holes for #6 machine screws through the inside rib of the rear stabiliser and bonded nut-plates to it. These will be used to attach the fairing to during final assembly. The bonding is a bit of an experiment with the nut-plates and I’m tempted to use it elsewhere on other nut-plates. In this instance the failure mode is relatively benign, and the fix is even easier than using nut-plates. If the bond fails in place, the screw is already taking the tensile load anyway.

Control Stick

Since installing the control sticks I’d been unhappy at a small amount of play in the bushings of both sticks. Both had been reamed and I had assumed that I had overdone it, however after removing and inspecting I could still see traces of primer inside the bushing. My plan was to add some weld tacks and ream them again, but I was also afraid that this could make a mess of it.

I noticed that there was some play around the outside of the bushing as well, so I added a thin washer and reassembled. Perfect! Both sides fit snuggly with all play removed.

Fuel Flow Transducer

I made an aluminium bracket and mounted the Gold Cube. I’m not certain if this will be the final version as I’m not 100% sure of the manufacturers intentions. They state that it should be suspended between flexible fuel line so I need to clarify this. At this point I plan to run a flexible fuel line to the firewall, or alternatively, use solid fuel line and penetrate the firewall close to an engine mount bolt.

Fuel Pump AN -ORB fitting

I purchased and installed the above fitting (straight) to replace the 90 degree one that came with the pump. This simplified the fuel lines alot.
