Seaplane / Gullwing Front doors

Today I cut the steel and welded together the front doors. I used the upper door from the kitset, and made the lower half to fit. I’ve already raised the door sills previously so the doors will clear the wing strut. The steel is 1/2 inch square 4130. Pretty happy with the results. Left door is complete and ready for the latch to be added, right door tacked and ready for welding.

I plan to fabricate a latch mechanism similar to the rear cargo door, or even simply copy it.
