Inspection ports
I remade the two large inspection ports for the tail area. The original ones had nutplates, but they were very labor intensive to make, and I wasn’t sure that I would get a good fit. So I’ve remade them. The surrounds are now wider to give a larger surface area for the glue, and I’ll use tinnermans on them. I was concerned about having the large inspection ports in the fabric and still maintaining its tightness.
They will require domed self tapping screws. I tried using countersunk flush self tappers, but the counter-sinking removes any purchase for the screws. The tinnermans should nest well in the fabric.
