Prepping & Painting Doors

I began by masking both main doors and cargo doors ready for painting. The masking tape I was using is probably for fine work because it wasn’t sticking particularly well and I needed to buy tape with a stronger adhesive.

Then I proceeded to clean, wash and lightly sand and scuff. Then a tack coat of primer followed by a wet coat, and left to dry and cure before scuffing again.

Then I applied several Orange top coat tack coats followed by the wet coat. Very happy with today’s results. I do still need to paint the interior of the cargo doors once the fabric “battleship grey” turns up. I’m shooting for an interior with grey fabric walls, black Kydex panels on the wing roots, front doors and foot well, and charcoal seats with bright orange stitching.
