Kydex, Instrument Panel Mock-up

I started installing the Kydex panels today. My first attempt was to fabricate the inside panel for the right front door. It went pretty well considering it was my first attempt, but I’ll make a better one. I learnt that you can overheat the Kydex which makes it go shiny, with ripples.

The second and third panels went very well for the left side wall panels.

Then I drove to my friend Jason’s place and he helped me make a mock-up panel from sheet plastic using Coral Draw, and a laser cutting machine. The results are hard to believe. The screens and other avionics fit perfectly. Tomorrow I’ll fit it into the aircraft to check for clearances. Then I plan to have the real aluminium one laser cut and powder coated.
