Oil filter, Cowling

Oil filter

My oil filter arrived today and it fits as advertised, and fits well where I’ve located it on the engine mount frame.

I’ll proceed with ordering the oil lines, fuel lines, and the remaining brake lines.

Cowling

Much of today was spent drilling and preparing nutplates for the cowling to attach to the firewall. Initially I had considered using Camlocs, but it was just getting too complicated and time consuming. This way it keeps the project moving forward.

I had fabricated two aluminium attachments for the U channel stiffeners, but I’ve now re-made these from steel. They should work well and are much easier to attach the cowling to.

Lower cowl now finished. I plan to rivet the nose bowl halves to their respective cowls, but will leave that until I’ve finish working on the engine. It’s quite handy to be able to um-cleco the bowl and remove it.
