EGT Probes, Lower cowl, Front seat belts

Lower Engine cowl

I cut, drilled, reassembled and riveted the lower cowl together. It all went pretty well because I was able to use the first one as a template and the fit was perfect. As with the top cowl, I didn’t dimple the firewall holes and will attach it with dome head machine screws,

Front seat belts

The front belts were difficult to install properly due to the small mounting lugs limiting access. Clearly they were designed many years ago for a simple shoulder strap, rather than an inertia reel. Anyway, after fitting and removing many times I found a position that worked and allows the reel to operate without interference.

EGT Probes

I drilled and added the 6 EGT probes to the exhaust pipes. I made a mistake and didn’t put 2 of the right side probes on enough of an angle and they didn’t clear the cowl. I’ve redone them, and will weld over the holes.

PMAG mounts

Ive added the correct PMAG mounting lugs, However the threaded studs are not quite long enough now to clear the nuts. So I’ve changed them for ones which are 1/2 inch longer - now a little too long, but still fine.
