Inspection frames, Nutplates
Inspection Frames
I finished dimpling the frames, and riveted the forwardmost frame into place. It fits well, however some of the rivets are possibly too close to edge of the skin. Once I've got all the frames fitted I'll go around and add additional rivets further from the edge and in between the existing rivets. This was decided after discussing with Mark and Bob, and my mentor.
Tank Cover Nutplates
I installed the front row of nutplates. The remainder will be done as part of closing the wing as they hold the rear part of the bottom skin in place.
Wing tip and Wing root nutplates
I started adding nutplates to attach the wing tip to, and also attach the wing root fairing to. For these I am drilling out every third rivet and replacing it with a nutplate. Currently I've drilled the lower skin ones, and I'll flip the wing over to do the top skin ones. Once the wing is right side up I'll do the flap and aileron hinges.
