Horizontal Spar Rib Prep

I spent the past couple days prepping the 20 ribs. This included deburring (a process that’s vital but that I’ve grown to dislike). Then using fluting pliers to flute rib flanges to eliminate the curve in the rib when the flanges were created at the factory. Finally adjusting flanges on a 4 ribs to new angles specified in the plans. I purchased an inexpensive angle measuring tool from HF to make that process easier and more accurate. I know I’ll use it in the future. Also purchased was some 3/8” plywood and some angle aluminum to fabricate 4 cradles as specified in the plans to support the stab during assembly. As mentioned in my last post, I heard back from Vans tech support regarding the email and photos I sent about the front spar countersunk AN426 rivets. Several were slightly proud after squeezing and I wanted their opinion if I should redo them or file the manufactured heads flush. Their response was literally, ”Those rivets look fine to us. Build on!” So with that latest issue put to bed, I will.
