Fabricating Fuselage Parts
Today was one of those long days without much to show for it. I had to fabricate rudder stops and the horizontal stab support angle and it took hours. Part of the problem was getting measurements and lines on the pieces accurately and in an orientation that I could get a rough cut using my bandsaw, then fine tune it with my 5" disc sander. I relied heavily on my digital calipers which read in both decimal inches and millimeters. Fortunately Van's gives all measurements in inches and millimeters. I found it much easier to work in mm then try to convert 11/32" into a decimal value. I also received my 3 missing items from the QB inventory last week. Also electrical stuff I'd ordered from Steinair to gain proficiency at crimping/installing mini-Molex connectors. This included female and male 24 AWG connectors, a mini-Molex plug and receptacle and a 3' length of 24 AWG 5 strand wire.
