Bottom Skin Riveting Done

Finished the bottom skin riveting the stiffeners and bulkheads. It took far longer and had a lot more hassles then it should have. It started when I realized I'd driven 4 rivets that I shouldn't have. My bad. First time I've done that. The plans weren't super clear regarding that. After re-reading things for the upteenth time I realized my error. Fortunately the offending rivets were removed without incident. Then throughout the riveting process there kept being issues. One rivet underneath a J-channel gave me fits. There were actually 2 rivets, on either side, recessed in a J-channel. The first one took 2 attempts but I finally got it set correctly. The other side just wouldn't work. After 2 attempts and buggering up the shop head each time I said the heck with it and used a MK-319-BS pulled rivet. Problem solved. I hate wasting time on stuff like that. So aggravating. Its underneath the rear fuselage and no one will ever notice it. I had several other rivets that had poor shop heads that I needed to replace as well. Fortunately all except one were removed and replaced uneventfully. One resulted in an oversize hole. Fortunately I have some NAS1241AD3-4 "Oops rivets". These have a standard AN426-3 head and a -4 shaft. I drilled out the offending hole to #30 and set a new one after cutting it from a -4 to a -3.5 length.
