EAA Tech Counselor Inspection
EAA Technical Counselor Ron Smith came by today to inspect my work to date. To prep I made sure the shop was tidy and had all my tail surfaces out and accessible. Seeing all my work to date in one spot made me realize how much I’ve done so far. Ron in an A&P/IA and has built and flown multiple aircraft including several RVs. He currently flying a RANS he built. He took a detailed look at everything, mostly the riveting, and pronounced my work good. My RV will get inspected 3 more times before flight. These documented inspections will make the final airworthiness inspection go easier. I welcome an experienced set of eyes like Ron’s and any constructive criticism, of which he had little. I think resale value is enhanced by showing a buyer these inspection forms backed up with the many photos I take. Ron confirmed using blue Loctite 242 on the fuel valve fittings screws I mentioned in my previous post was perfectly fine.
