Starting The Empennage Fairings
I finished up a couple skin stiffeners by fluting them to eliminate curvature. Then spent the remainder of the day reviewing the process of installing the fiberglass tip fairings that all the control surfaces get. This will be a big shift away from metal work and into composites. Another new area for me. I also spent time online ordering various products I'll need such as epoxy resin, fiberglass cloth, peel ply, flocked cotton fiber and micro balloons.
Skin stiffener is curved and needs to be straightened with fluting pliers.
After lightly fluting along the length metal has been shrunk thus straightening the part.
Fit check of skin stiffeners after straightening. They will be painted before installation.
