Vertical Stab Fairing Patch
Got the stab fairing drilled and clecoed in. This took much longer than it should've due to alignment issues with the rudder horn. It ended up not quite perfect, but I'll probably be the only one that notices. I then removed the rudder and stab from the fuselage and continued working from my workbench. I trimmed the patch I'd made to fit flush and snugly down inside the rib and bonded it to the fairing. Once cured I added a fillet of flox around the inside edge and then another layer of fabric on the inside. When that sets I can sand the patch flush with the exterior profile, get the fairing riveted on, filled, sanded and be finally done with all the fairings. I'm sick of working on them. Another important and expensive piece of the puzzle arrived today when UPS delivered my propeller. I went with the standard 72" Hartzell C/S 2 blade recommended by Van's for the RV-14 taildragger version.

Fairing clecoed on and trimming the patch to fit inside the rib.

Patch bonded on.

Added a fillet of flox to the inside joint with a layer of glass over it all.

Prop arrived today. Another big piece to store until I need it. Wish my garage was bigger!
