Canopy Side Skins And Handles

More progress occurring beginning with the countersinking of all canopy screw holes which went uneventfully. Then on to prepping the canopy for final mounting by fine grit sanding all edges and rounding all sharp corners and stress points. I used plexiglass fine scratch remover to polish out minor scratches that occurred along the interior rollbar area during fitment. This wasn't a concern since it's not a viewing area. I just did it for aesthetic reasons. In all likelihood the plexiglass along the rollbar will be exterior painted to hide the area similar to the factory RV-14. All of the canopy viewing area is covered by protective plastic inside and out that will be removed just prior to flight. With the canopy clecoed back in place I checked the fit one last time and then on to riveting both side skins and lift handles I'd previously fabricated. AN507-632 screws and nuts were installed loosely in the canopy prior along the side rails. They will be gently torqued in a specific sequence once riveting is completed and roll bar hardware installed. I again heated the garage to 83 degrees and slightly under drove each rivet to reduce vibrational stresses on the plexiglass. My ever-helpful bride helped buck the hard to get at rivets on the lift handles and left me nice shop heads there.
